LABOR UPDATES 

  • Pilots at Breeze airways are organizing with the ALPA Pilots
  • The Long Island Rail Road recently voluntarily recognized 2 separate bargaining units, the firs a unit of General Foreman and the second a unit of Station Employees, both with the IAM 
  • Microsoft inks agreement with a big union, CWA, to stay neutral in union elections at Activision, the gaming company it’s acquiring for $70 billion. Could pave the way for 1,000s of gaming workers to unionize.
  • The employees of City Feed and Supply have voted in support of forming a union.  Employees voted 20-10 in a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election on June 14 to be an affiliate of Boston Industrial Workers of the World (Boston IWW).
  • Thousands of workers formed an independent union at a GM auto plant in Silao, in central Mexico, voting out a corporate-supported union that did not operate in their interest. 
  • THE VOTES ARE IN: Thousands of casino workers cast ballots today and 96% have voted in favor of authorizing the worker negotiation committee to call a strike if an agreement is not reached with Caesars, Harrah’s, Tropicana, and Borgata, by July 1st and Hard Rock by July 3rd.

  • Jack in the Box locations in California and Texas are now under union attack
